Official Statement Jennifer M. Storipan, Esq.

“Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the “Families First Coronavirus Response Act, H.R. 6201”, a bill that will provide an additional robust response to the global COVID-19 outbreak and address the personal safety and financial security of millions of Americans. This legislation includes provisions that provide Puerto Rico access to free testing for COVID-19 and $100 million for emergency supplemental nutrition assistance to Puerto Rico and the territories. Additionally, an increase of 6.2 percent in the Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAP) for the Medicaid program on quarterly basis beginning on the day of the emergency period and ending on the last day of that quarter after the emergency ends.

This legislation provides Puerto Rico much-needed federal assistance during this global emergency and is a step in the right direction to continue addressing priorities in this time of need. PRFAA will continue to work with Congress and the Administration so that Puerto Rico receives the appropriate federal assistance it deserves; our priority continues to be the 3.2 million of U.S. citizens who call the island home and ensuring their unmet needs are met.”
