(January 27, 2020 -Washington, D.C.) – Today, the Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA), Jennifer M. Storipan, Esq. met with the Mayor of the municipality of Cataño, Félix Delgado Montalvo ‘El Cano’ to discuss the opening of the municipality’s Recovery and Sustainability Office. Cataño is located on the northern coast of the metropolitan area in Puerto Rico, with a population of 23,244, a per capita income of $7,235, and 49% of residents living below the poverty line.
The opening of the Cataño’s Recovery and Sustainability Office is an effort by the mayor to lead and centralize recovery activities and initiatives for the municipality, and to continue streamlining the recovery of Cataño after Hurricanes Irma and María devastated the island. The office seeks to design the legal and administrative structure, develop Cataño’s recovery strategy plan, as well as implement procedures for effective and efficient management of a recovery in the event of an emergency. The office will promote, execute, and manage infrastructure projects related to the recovery and sustainability of the municipality.
