Official Statement Jennifer M. Storipan, Esq.

“Since December 28, 2019, Puerto Rico has been experiencing earthquakes and thousands of aftershocks that have caused significant damage on the island. These seismic events include at least seven earthquakes that were 5.0+ in magnitude, followed by multiple tremors. We continue to assess damages to homes, infrastructure, roads, and overall threats to health and safety. We thank President Trump for approving our request to declare the damage caused by these earthquakes a major disaster. This is a step in the right direction for Puerto Rico’s recovery from these earthquakes. Our priority is to ensure that Puerto Rico receives the appropriate federal resources and assistance it deserves; we are committed to guaranteeing the safety and security of the 3.2 million U.S. citizens who call the island home.”
