PRFAA achived another co-sponsor in the Senate for the Bankruptcy Bill

Washington, D.C. – Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration Director, Juan E. Hernández announced today that the efforts to get co-sponsors for the S. 1774 bill is producing results. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), ranking member of the Subcommittee on Constitutional issues of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, has joined as co-sponsor of this project, which is similar to the HR 870. The S. 1774 bill would provide the tool or legal basis for authorizing the restructuring of public debt. (more…)

This meeting was held as part of the efforts of the García Padilla Administration to gather support of key lawmakers in the decision to pass the H.R. 870 bill, which seeks to include Puerto Rico in the provisions of Chapter 9 of the federal Bankruptcy Code. U.S. Department of Commerce awards $ 579,571 to Puerto Rican non-profit company

Washington, D.C. – Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA) Director, Juan E. Hernández announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce gave $ 579,571 to the Puerto Rico Manufacturing Extension, Inc. (Primex), a private nonprofit organization, created by the Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO). Primex has as main objective to provide technical assistance to businesses in Puerto Rico in order to improve productivity and competitiveness; sponsoring new cost-effective technologies and business practices. This allocation of funds are issued by the network of “Manufacturing Extension Partnership” (MEP) and distributed using the “National Institute of Standards and Technology” (NIST). (more…)
